I’m Lok Pui Lo, a creative producer, artist, facilitator and event host based in Edinburgh, originally from Hong Kong. I work with artists, cultural organisations and communities to develop projects, bring people together and create experiences people feel invited to take part in.
My practice moves across events, festivals, film and participatory arts. I’ve tried to organise it neatly on this website, but a few job titles can only tell you so much. What draws me towards a project is often the idea itself: something that sparks my curiosity, a story worth sharing, or an opportunity to bring people into conversation. If it takes me somewhere unfamiliar, I’m willing to learn, ask questions and build the relationships needed to carry it forward.
People are at the heart of how I work. I’m often told that I’m easy to talk to, and I care about creating that sense of comfort in a room. Whether I’m hosting an event, leading a workshop or contributing to a panel, I pay attention to how people are welcomed, whose voices are being heard and what might help someone feel able to join in.
And I like to make things fun. Who said being an adult means we have to stop playing? I’m always looking for ways to make an experience more engaging, whether through a shared activity, an unexpected question or a moment that gets people talking to someone new.
Behind those moments is practical work I enjoy, too: developing programmes, writing successful funding applications, building partnerships and coordinating projects from an initial idea through to delivery. As co-founder of ESEA Creatives, I’ve helped grow a meetup into an organisation supporting East and Southeast Asian artists across Scotland.
Working with me means having someone who brings energy, initiative and care to the process. I can help shape the idea, organise what needs to happen and step into the room to bring it alive. Throughout, I keep asking: how can we make this something people want to be part of?
