ABOUT

ABOUT

Moving Between Worlds is a short film produced through ESEA Creatives, produced by Lok Pui Lo 洛錇 and written and directed by Rory 子豪 Power-Gibb and supported by the City of Edinburgh Council’s Diversity and Inclusion Fund. The story follows Mei, whose Singaporean grandmother moves into her Edinburgh home. A language barrier leaves them struggling to connect, until an inherited pair of dance shoes transports Mei into a spirit world where she encounters her grandmother’s younger self. Combining narrative cinema and dance, the film explores the experiences that connect generations, even when they struggle to communicate.

PURPOSE

PURPOSE

The project explores how movement can express memories, emotions and relationships that words cannot easily convey. It considers how migration shapes our sense of home, and how younger generations connect with cultural heritage through the people closest to them. The production also creates opportunities for ESEA performers and creatives to collaborate on a film centred on their communities’ experiences.

MY CONTRIBUTION

MY CONTRIBUTION

As producer, I developed the project’s production framework, secured funding and coordinated the people and resources needed to bring it to screen. My work included budgeting, contracts, casting, crew coordination, locations, rehearsal planning and production logistics. I worked with the director and creative team to balance the film’s ambitions with the resources available. I continue to lead post-production planning and fundraising, supporting the film’s completion and developing its festival submission strategy.
