ABOUT

ABOUT

Liquid Identities was presented by ESEA Creatives at Assembly Roxy in Edinburgh on 28 September 2025, during East and Southeast Asian Heritage Month. The festival brought together artists from different disciplines in a day-long programme of film screenings, exhibitions, readings, live music, dance and discussion, followed by a DJ afterparty. It created a shared space for audiences to encounter ESEA creativity and the different stories, perspectives and experiences within our communities.

PURPOSE

PURPOSE

The festival aimed to give ESEA artists in Scotland greater visibility and opportunities to present their work, while connecting people across artistic disciplines and cultural backgrounds. Identity and belonging provided a thread through the programme. Bringing different art forms together invited audiences to explore these themes through conversation, performance and shared experiences, with space for both reflection and celebration.

MY CONTRIBUTION

MY CONTRIBUTION

As festival producer and co-programmer, I helped shape the programme and bring its different elements together, working alongside the ESEA Creatives team, artists and partners. My work included budget planning, artist coordination, scheduling, production logistics and communications. I considered how audiences would move through the programme and how different activities could contribute to a welcoming, engaging experience. Alongside producing the festival, I moderated a panel exploring art and belonging and contributed to the spoken-word programme, bringing my own creative practice into the event.

OUTCOMES

The festival brought together more than 40 artists and over 200 attendees, presenting a broad range of ESEA creative work within one venue. The programme provided a platform for artists to share their work and meet audiences, alongside opportunities for discussion and exchange. It marked an important step in ESEA Creatives’ development from a grassroots gathering into an organisation delivering multidisciplinary cultural programmes.
